What does a Google search say about your state? That it’s probably weird

Estately recently posted Google Trends in 2015 for each state, and it’s fairly interesting. If true, some of you people really need to get a life.

Please, please don’t search for what I Google. Because… never-mind.

Anyway, Americans have some interesting tendencies. From Donald Trump to Hillary Clinton, some searches are reasonable and expected. “Why did Hillary Clinton lie about her e-mail?” “Is Donald Trump a racist?”

Yes, yes he is.

Ashamed of what you search for on Google? You should be.

Ashamed of what you search for on Google? You should be.

President Barack Obama and ISIS are others that showed in the search but there were some others that are fairly interesting.

Florida’s top search was “concealed weapons permit.” It is nicknamed the “Gunshine State” for a reason. Other things that Floridians searched for include “Obamacare” and “Marco Rubio.” Fairly reasonable, I guess.

Rubio is a U.S. Senator representing Florida who has decided to run for president and Governor Rick Scott decided not to expand Medicaid in the state under Obamacare.

Alabama has a fetish with things that Alabamians likely don’t understand, like same-sex marriage. “Same-sex marriage” was the top search in the state along with “Ken Stabler” and “Laverne Cox.” Stabler is a state celebrity and Cox is an actress who happens to be transgender.

The south in particular is really fixated with sexuality, religion, and politics. Shocker to anybody? Right.

Arkansas searched for “ISIS” and “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.” Mississippi searched for “Ashley Madison” and “Booty.”

People in Mississippi legit searched for “Booty.”

The searches that came out of Texas certainly aren’t milquetoast. From “Lion Hunting” to “Planned Parenthood video,” Texas by far was the most diverse in terms of what Texans searched for.

But here’s where the search terms get kind of heavy and slightly unbelievable. Folks in Virginia searched for “Abdel Fattah el-Sis” and “Narendra Modi.” Both are leaders of foreign countries who host names that aren’t recognizable.

They also searched for “Recep Taytip Erdogan,” president of Turkey. I mean, come on!

Georgia searched for “the whip dance” and West Virginia looked up “Magic Mike XXL.” Meanwhile, Virginians were obsessed with Abdel Fattah el-Sis, the president of Egypt.

I mean, I guess…

Take this list with a grain of salt or believe everything that’s listed, but some states are either really myopic and shallow and others are complex and bent on foreign policy.
